Dr Robert Johnk is an experienced Electronic Engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the telecommunications industry. Dr Johnk is skilled in LTE, Statistical Data Analysis, Antennas, Radio Frequency (RF), and Network Analyzer. He is a strong engineering professional with a Ph.D. focused in Electrical Engineering (Electromagnetics) from University of Colorado at Boulder.

Dr. Johnk is much admired by colleagues for his ability to plan and perform complex measurements, from careful experimental design to deployment of precision calibrated measurement systems. Nick DeMinco, a senior propagation modeling expert in the ITS Telecommunications Theory Division, cites half a dozen measurement campaigns led by Dr. Johnk that provided invaluable data for model validation. Measurement methods designed by teams Dr. Johnk has led have been widely disseminated as best practices in the field and the resulting “truth data” has been used to validate a wide range of propagation models.

Radio Club of America Scholarship Committee announces The Dr. Ted Rappaport Academic Scholarship Program. This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students studying Electrical Engineering or an equivalent major who wish to make a lasting contribution in the field of next generation wireless technology. Application forms will be available on the RCA website beginning in the 2025 academic year. Applicants must demonstrate that they intend to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Rappaport and are planning to make a contribution researching advanced next-generation wireless technologies for the benefit of industry or medical science.

Arno A. Penzias, who fled Nazi Germany in childhood, settled in the United States and in 1978 shared the Nobel Prize in physics for helping find vital early evidence supporting the big-bang theory of the creation of the universe, died Jan. 22 at an assisted-living center in San Francisco. He was 90.

The Radio Club of America (RCA) proudly announces its 2023 annual award recipients and its incoming class of 2023 Fellows. Since 1935, RCA has recognized through its awards program major contributors to wireless communications. This year, thirteen awards are being bestowed, and eight RCA members are being elevated to Fellow status.

The 2023 Awards and Fellows ceremonies will be held at the RCA Awards Banquet in Denver, Colorado at the Hyatt Regency on November 18, 2023. For details, please see RCA’s website.

Dec. 7, 2022, McLean, Va. – The Monitoring Association’s (TMA) President Morgan Hertel announced the establishment of the Louis T. Fiore Electronic Communications Scholarship on Mon., Oct. 31st during the TMA General Business Meeting at the 2022 Annual Meeting on Marco Island, FL. The scholarship honors Mr. Fiore’s enduring contribution to the alarm industry and the Alarm Industry Communications Committee (AICC) and is intended to promote careers in electronic communications.
