The Radio Club of America Awards Program is one of the industry’s premier events. 

Every year, it is preceded by the day-long Technical Symposium.

Both events showcase expertise and achievement in every segment of wireless.

 

Join us in New York City for a weekend of memorable events!

Our 2024 schedule is:

Thursday, November 21 - A Full Day of Tours
We will depart the Westin via motor coach by 8 a.m., to visit:
  • The InfoAge Science and History Museum, for private guided tours. The exhibits include (but are not limited to):
    1. Electronic warfare
    2. Military communications
    3. Military radar & electronics
    4. Computers (they have a lot of vintage computers)
    5. Merchant Marine communications
    6. The Marconi Wireless Station
  • A Tour of Bell Works (formerly Bell Labs)
  • Holmdel Horn Antenna
We will break for lunch after InfoAge, and should return to the hotel by 6 p.m. (depending on traffic). There is an option to meet at InfoAge and follow the bus.
Thursday evening on your own

Friday, November 22 - Morning Tour of NYU Wireless Lab
We will depart the Westin via motor coach by 8:30 a.m., for tours of the NYU Wireless Lab.
We will return to the Westin around 1:30 p.m.

Friday evening is on your own.

Saturday, November 23

Technical Symposium

The program will begin at 8 a.m. and is slated to run until 5 p.m.

Cocktail Reception
The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run until 6:55 p.m.

Awards Banquet
The banquet will begin at 7:00 p.m. and run until approximately 10:00 p.m.
 

TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM

Our 2024 Technical Symposium is shaping up to be an historic day of information and learning!

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Wilson, co-discoverer of the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation and Nobel Laureate, will be our featured speaker and will be talking about the history of Bell Labs.

Other presenters include, but are not limited to:
  • Alex Pilosov – Shortwave Solutions – HF Stock Trading for low latency
  • Ulrich Rohde – Radio Topic
  • Krishnamurthy Raghunandan “Raghu” -  IEEE, NYC-Transit, Bell Labs, Rutgers
  • Sreeram Dhurjaty “Ram” – IEEE, Kodak Fellow – Steinmetz
  • Naresh Chand – Bell Labs
  • Peter Vetter – President of Nokia Bell Labs
  • Tucker Dunham, an RCA Youth Program alumni –Optical filters for radio astronomy
  • Allan Immel - Turnkey Systems, Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc, Pittsburgh, PA.  Communications and control for railway systems
  • Morimi Iwama – He is one of the esteemed pioneers at Bell Labs especially of Telstar
  • Ross Merlin – Public Safety and Wireless
  • We are also planning to having a special panel on Bell Labs this year.  
We are seeking poster presentations from the students in area university wireless grad programs.

AWARDS BANQUET

Join us this year as we recognize the recipients of the following awards:

  • USN Cap'n George P McGinnis Memorial Award

  • RCA Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Dr. Arno A. Penzias Award for Contributions to Basic Research in the Radio Sciences

  • RCA Special Recognition Award

We are also elevating five (5) esteemed members to RCA Fellow.

We believe that the highlight of the evening will be hearing from Dr. Robert Wilson, Nobel Laureate, as he speaks of his history in wireless.

Our rate at the Westin is $319/night for a standard room. This rate is available three days pre-and-post event, based on space availability. Room reservations will open by August 24.
